The NYS & CSEA Partnership offers multiple ways to help NYS Managers and CSEA leaders train and develop CSEA-represented New York State employees. Whether you’re looking for a Partnership course, specialized job training, certification preparation, or a custom training solution, we’ll help you find the best option.
Training can be delivered on-site at your workplace, at a nearby location, or as part of an agency conference or event.

Targeted Tuition Benefits
Need training that isn’t offered through the Partnership? Through our network of 140+ accredited schools and education providers, employees can receive tuition assistance for training that supports workforce development and career advancement. The Partnership pays participating providers directly through a voucher system.Training may support:
- Certification or licensure requirements
- Qualifications needed to take a NYS Civil Service exam
- Educational requirements for a traineeship
- Job-specific skill development
Examples include accounting coursework, paralegal studies, substance abuse counseling credentials, and other career-related training.
Workforce Training Grants
Agencies and CSEA locals can apply for up to $30,000 to address workforce and organizational development challenges, including:
- Agency reorganization
- New technology
- Changing customer needs
- New legal or regulatory requirements
- Specialized job-skill training
Examples include - DiSC and Effective Communication training, DiSC Assessments for Labor Management Committee Training on Conflict Resolution, Notary Public Test Prep Phase 1, Interplay Learning Training - EH&S and Advancement Training,
Safety & Health Training Grants
For workplace safety and health initiatives, agencies and CSEA representatives may apply for up to $50,000 in funding to support training that:
- Strengthens safety and health committees
- Improves workplace safety programs
- Reduces injuries and illnesses
- Expands safety and health knowledge across the organization
Examples include - Pesticide Applicator training and certification courses, state-of-the-art training on Energy-Efficient Lighting, Electrical Workplace Safety Training: Low and High Voltage Qualified including ARC Flash, ARC Flash Training, Boiler Technical Training, De-escalation Training - Verbal Judo, and BOCES LPN training to be Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs).
