Excel 2016: Custom & Conditional Formatting (0.5 Hours)

To customize data, you can use the built-in formats in Excel 2016, or you can use your own. Learn how to create custom formats for numbers, text, and date and time, as well as how to create and use conditional formatting.

 

Excel 2016: Finding, Sorting & Filtering Data (0.75 Hours)

Excel 2016 includes a number of methods for locating and displaying only certain entries. Learn how to work with specific data using the Find and Replace tools, sorting and filtering, hiding duplicates, and grouping.

 

Excel 2016: Referencing Data (0.75 Hours)

Many times, you will use a cell value in a formula or another location. Discover absolute and relative cell references, using data across multiple worksheets, formula auditing, and interpreting formula errors in Excel 2016.

 

Excel 2016: Working with Formulas (0.75 Hours)

In addition to simple formulas, Excel 2016 has the power to solve more complex calculations. Explore how to calculate loan interest and payments, use the Goal Seek and forecast tools, and find and prevent duplicate values.

 

Excel 2016: Creating Charts & Graphics (1.0 Hours)

Analyze and present your data in a visually attractive manner in Excel 2016. Learn how to insert and customize charts, create chart templates, work with different chart types, and use trendlines.

 

Excel 2016: Using Conditional Formulas (0.75 Hours)

In some cases, you may need to create formulas using data based on specific criteria in your range. Learn how to create and work with conditional formulas in Excel 2016, including SUMIF, SUMIFS, and SUMPRODUCT.

 

Excel 2016: Extracting Information with Formulas (0.75 Hours)

Excel 2016 has a number of formulas for extracting both numeric and textual data from cells. Discover how to use some of these formulas, including MONTH, DAY, YEAR, MAX, MIN, CONCATENATE, SEARCH, LEN, LOOKUP, and VLOOKUP.

These courses are offered by the Partnership and are open to all CSEA-represented NYS employees. Webinars can be taken from any computer with a connection to the Internet. You can also view recordings of webinars.

Eligibility

Eligibility

All CSEA-represented NYS employees are eligible to participate.

Management/Confidential NYS employees with an Empire KnowledgeBank (EKB) license are also eligible to participate. Contact your agency training officer for information on obtaining an EKB license.  

Supervisory approval is not required for courses taken outside the normal workday. It may be possible for employees to take courses during working hours with supervisory approval.

How it Works

  • Register for the program anytime between January 16 and July 15, 2024. 
  • Take all of the required courses online in SLMS anytime from January 16 through July 16, 2024.  
  • To earn a certificate, you must complete all seven courses and achieve a passing grade of 70% or higher in each course by the program's end date of July 16, 2024.
  • To print your certificate, login to SLMS, go to the My Learning page, locate the appropriate certificate program, and select the Print Certificate button. The Print Certificate button will only be available if the status is Completed.

Register

To participate, you must follow our two-step registration process. The first step varies for CSEA-represented NYS employees and Management/Confidential NYS employees. 

 
Step 1

CSEA-represented NYS employees: Apply for a Partnership Online Learning License in the Statewide Learning Management System. Search P_OL_Program in SLMS. Please allow up to five business days for license approval.  

NYS Management/Confidential Employees: Contact your agency training director to obtain an Empire KnowledgeBank license if you don't have one already.  

 

Step 2

Once you have an active license, you can register for the program in SLMS. Search P_MEI24 in SLMS.

Technical Support and Questions

Please be sure you're using Google Chrome to access SLMS. If you don't have the internet browser on your computer now, submit a ticket to ITS to have it installed. 

You will not be able to access any of the courses in the certificate program until you have followed the two-step registration process noted above. Please allow up to five business days for license approval. New state employees typically won’t get access to SLMS until after their first paycheck.
