This class is online. You must have access to a computer and an Internet connection.
This six-week class is a continuation of Effective Reading Skills 1 (Online); it is strongly recommended that participants enroll in classes in order. In this class, you will deeply analyze texts through exploration of an author’s purpose, arguments, and supporting evidence. You will apply your skills through writing an opinion letter, providing solid support for your own, well-reasoned argument.
Attendance is required all days.
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
- Apply active reading strategies to improve comprehension.
- Analyze text for meaning, purpose, and point of view.
- Build an argument backed by solid support.
- Discuss literary devices that shape stories.
