APPLYING

How many grants can a local/facility apply for?

There is no limit on the number of applications that a local/facility may make in a fiscal year, but each grant will require a certain amount of administration by the agency and grants are limited statewide on the basis of budgeted funds available. [Return to Questions]

Who signs the grant application(s)?

Grant applications must be co-signed by the CSEA local president and a management representative. The management representative must be a human resources manager, facility director, or equivalent.
[Return to Questions]

Does the entire grant application need to be completed?

Yes. A grant application cannot be approved unless all requested information is included. Questions about the application can be addressed to Dave Street at the Partnership (phone: 518-402-5988). [Return to Questions]

GENERAL GUIDELINES

Can we use grant funding to replace reduced training budgets for agency training programs?

No. LMWD grants provide funds for new and innovative programs to address new workforce challenges and changes, and to develop training curriculum that could be used by other agencies or work sites. [Return to Questions]

REVIEW AND APPROVAL PROCESS

What is the procedure for approval?

Completed grant applications are submitted to Dave Street at the Partnership. After initial review and any clarification required, the application is forwarded to the LMWD Grants review committee at the Partnership or the agency statewide labor-managment education and training subcommittee (if one exists) for consideration. Once a final decision is made, labor and management representatives are notified by letter.
[Return to Questions]

Why can’t we get approval right away?

All grant requests must go through a formal review to make sure grant awards meet proper criteria for LMWD grants and budgeted funds available. [Return to Questions]
