Online Administrative Skills Certificate Program
The Administrative Skills Certificate Program (ASCP) is an exciting online opportunity designed around the critical job-related knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for clerical, secretarial, and paraprofessional administrative employees to succeed in their careers.
The ASCP consists of nine essential core courses and three additional elective courses chosen from 22 courses. The elective courses enable employees to customize the ASCP to meet specific individual career goals.
Participants will acquire or refresh a wide range of job-related knowledge, skills, and abilities which will improve job performance and enhance career mobility. The ASCP enables participants to complete online courses at their own pace during the one-year program.
NYS CSEA-represented employees in the Administrative Services Unit (ASU/02) are eligible to participate. Supervisory approval is not required for ASCP courses taken at home. It may be possible for you to take courses at work but you will need approval from your supervisor.
The application period has ended. Participating employees can take courses for up to one year, ending June 30, 2010. All courses must be completed by this time. The typical learner will need at least one hour each week of online study to complete the requirements for the ASCP certificate.
Participants are required to successfully complete nine core courses and three elective courses and must achieve a passing grade of 70% or higher in each course. All courses must be completed between July 1, 2009 and June 30, 2010. In addition to the required ASCP courses, participants are eligible to take additional online courses during the same time period. Print the list of courses for your reference.
Participants who successfully complete the required 12 courses (nine core courses and three elective courses) will be awarded an ASCP certificate by the Partnership. You must inform the Partnership when you have completed all of your courses in order to receive your ASCP certificate.
